Migraine Treatment

15 percent of people are estimated to have a migraine headache and it is much more common in women than men. Migraine types vary from person to person and there are different symptoms and numerous triggers. Migraines can be controlled by drugs that stop or prevent to start the attacks.

But these drugs cannot provide some patients with adequate control or prevention with no medication. Some patients whose pains are under control are uncomfortable with the side effects of drugs.

PERIPHERAL NERVE COMPRESSION AS A REASON OF MIGRAINE HEADACHES

In some patients, the cause of migraines is the irritation of some nerve endings in the head and neck. This irritation is caused by the muscles through which these nerves go through. The muscles compress the nerve and so causes compression, thereby eventually developing migraine attack. These nerve endings are localized in well-known areas of the head and neck and are divided into four specific zones known as frontal, temporal, occipital, and nasal areas. These are known as peripheral migraine triggers.

HOW DOES MIGRAINE SURGERY WORK?

Migraine surgery acts on the principle of reducing the compression of the muscles on the nerves. Reducing the pressure on the nerves may prevent the onset of migraine attacks, or at least by weakening the trigger, it causes the migraines to appear less frequently and less painful. Although these trigger points can be determined by firstly injecting Botox to the trigger point sites, the main sites can be identified from the patient complaints. When the patient gets a positive response to botox treatment (relieving migraine), these trigger points are surgically treated by small incisions concealed by the temporal and occipital hair lines. In order to relieve the trigger point, the compression of the muscles is partially or completely removed. In some cases, the ends of the nerves are removed if the nerve is sufficiently small and the loss will not cause any damage (temporal zone). Under all circumstances, these surgical manoeuvres prevent the recurrence of a migraine.

THE SUCCESS RATIO OF MIGRAINE SURGERY
Even though migraine surgery can provide extraordinary relief in some cases, it may not always provide permanent relief. Recent studies have shown that a third of patients have recovered fully. But in 90% of the cases, patients have a significant reduction in the number, severity, and duration of migraine attacks. Migraine surgery is an appropriate surgery for fatty tissue and sagging skin. Thigh lift is a surgical procedure designed to improve the contour of the legs and stretch the skin by removing the excess skin and fat deposits from the thighs.
